Comfort Bite Splint and Comfort H/S Bite Splint

Comfort Splint

Reduce the risk of wear and tear on your patients' natural teeth and restorations by prescribing a Comfort Splint.
The Comfort Splint is available in two versions:

Comfort Bite Splint: Hard, non-flexible surface
Comfort H/S Bite Splint: Hard outer surface with soft inner layer that rests comfortably against the teeth and gums.

     • Indicated for severe bruxing.
     • Ideal for patients allergic to acrylics or metals.
     • Fabricated from BPA-free co-polyester.

Clinical Techniques for Prescribing Comfort Bite Splints

Bruxguard Occlusal Splints

BruxguardExtremely Hard - Yet Slightly Flexible
The Bruxguard material is a clear thermoplastic-acrylic hybrid that feels just like a conventional hard processed acrylic, but without the usual uncomfortable feel associated with the hard appliances. Just prior to delivery, place the splint into a bowl of hot tap water for a few minutes. Remove and seat. The material "softens" just enough to allow for easy insertion and a comfortable fit, yet doesn't get soft enough to distort against the opposing occlusion.

Highly Accurate
Our Bruxguard splints are hand crafted from start to finish by a small team of technicians to ensure consistent, predictable results. All cases are surveyed for optimal retention, and fabricated on semifixed articulators for occlusal accuracy.

Fast Seating Time
Because of the accuracy of the thermoplastic material, seating time is generally less than 15 minutes.

Typical Attributes

  • Constructed on maxillary arch
  • Thickness: 2mm posterior / 4-5mm anterior
  • Occlusal surface: Flat plane, slick, smooth
  • Occlusal contact: Full arch (if possible) with cuspid guidance

Options (You must request on Rx)

  • Construct on mandibular arch
  • Thickness
  • Centric recesses
  • 3 or 4 point occlusal contact
  • Bruxguard PLUS (Bruxguard liner with traditional acrylic on occlusal)

Clinical Tips

  • High quality alginate full upper and lower arch impressions are ideal
  • Send bite registration if occlusion warrants.
  • Cold-cure, clear acrylic can be used to add to Bruxguards.
  • If appliance ever becomes "tight" or "uncomfortable" to patient, repeat hot tap water sequence.
  • Indicate type of treatment on Rx. (bruxism, TMJ, bite-opening, etc)

We also provide traditional hard and soft splints, TMJ treatment devices, and athletic mouthguards.
